It has been a couple of years now since I’ve been in the weeds of working with WordPress daily. In my freelance work I’ve done a lot more React, Laravel, and even then my primary focus has been Product consulting rather than development.

With all the changes in core it really feels like I need to learn things from the ground up. What does it mean to build a theme or a plugin these days with all the updates in blocks and full site editing? Where did the dust settle with build tools?

I’m really hoping the developer experience has caught up with some of the other ecosystems. That would be a nice surprise!

Sending this out into the internet world since I’ll try and share out the steps and updates as I go. Developer blog sharing was always my favorite thing about WordPress so I’d really love to circle back into doing that if I can.
